Tessy submitted the following write up:

First of all, I would like to thank everyone that helped in the sponsorship of this program: Big West Color Classic in Drayton Valley, Zone 10 show in Ponoka and of course all the people that are a part of the APHC and the Saskatchewan Paint Horse Club. This scholarship is a wonderful program for everyone that is a part of the youth. It is a way to compete with other youth while also helping others to do better. Competition this year was tough, with Brooklyn Moch only half of a point behind me! All of my competitors had a great show year and they are all very great people! I wish all of the youth next year that are competing, Good Luck!
This scholarship will definitely come in handy in the future! When I grow up I would like to either become a dentist or a doctor. Both of these jobs will require many years of post secondary education. At the moment I am in grade 8 at Three Hills Public School (K-12). My favorite subject would have to be Gym but I also enjoy Math and Language Arts. My teachers are great people and they always have a way to help you understand something that you don’t get.
I also play many sports and doing many other things. I was involved in Volleyball at the beginning of the school year. This season I was lucky enough to be a part of the Three Hills Royals, Junior A Team. We made it to Zones in Bassano, where our team brought home the banner of 2A, Junior A Girls Volleyball Champions, 2011. I also play basketball for the Royals. Our team has improved greatly this year and every once in a while we win a game. Badminton is another sport that I play for my school. Last year I made it to Divisionals in Girls Singles.
My other hobbies are 4-H, skiing in the winter, swimming, and helping my dad around the farm. I am part of the Three Hills 4-H Wranglers where at least once a month, our club comes together and we ride our horses. It is really fun and exciting because we not only do show related things, but we also do speed events and other things. At home, my horses are also good at chasing cattle and going on trail rides with others.
I currently have three horses. Zips Angel (Angel) is my sorrel overo mare. I got her when I was eight years old. At the time, I didn’t have a horse for 4-H so I was borrowing her from a family friend. As the year progressed, Angel and I excelled in many events. By the end of the 4-H season, we took home Level One High Point at 4-H on Parade. That is when my parents finally noticed that she and I made a good match, so we ended up buying her. I used her for the next four years, but now she has gotten too small for me. We decided that it would be best to put her up for sale. Splashed By Zip (Spike) is my sorrel overo gelding. This year was the first year that I had him. He was previously my older sister’s horse, but since she had to go to college, she handed him off to me. At first my mom wasn’t totally in on the idea because he was so tall and if I ever fell off, I would hurt myself. Then, after the first few weeks of watching me ride him, she was all in. Spike and I did very well this year, taking home Res. High Point Novice Youth, and 3rd in 13 & Under. Flow Ryder (Julian) is my two year old, black overo gelding. He is currently in training, but in the summer, my oldest sister is going to show him and maybe I will get to also by the end of the year.
My family owns Rupert/Lansink Farms. It is a pig farm that consists of over 10, 000 pigs, farrow to finish. My dad works in the barn everyday with my uncle and my mom helps with the book keeping while also working at her own job. I have three older sisters that help me with all of the stuff that I do. When I need help with my homework, they can and they also tell me what to work on while I ride. Tyrel Poier I like to consider part of the family since my horse is in training with Poier Performance Horses and he always helps me out. As you can see, my family is wonderful and they all love animals. I love them too, but my favorite animal is a horse, which is why I am part of the AjPHC.
Thank you again to all of the sponsors of this program, and to my family for always helping me out. I don’t know what I would do without anyone that helps me at the shows. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t know what to do without you guys! Thank you everyone and good luck to all of those competing next year!!

Zone 10 Zone-O-Rama Report
The
Zone 10 Championship Show for 2010 was held at Stampede Park in
Calgary for the second time in 2011. Paint horses, and their owners/exhibitors,
gathered from 4 provinces and 3 states, making the Zone 10 Zone-O-Rama
the biggest paint show in Western Canada.
The
most prestigious award of the show is the Superhorse Show Saddle,
sponsored in 2011 by the Zone 10 Show Committee. This title and
award are presented to the horse winning the most points and displaying
the greatest versatility. Cherry Bubbles was the recipient of the
2011 Zone 10 Super Horse Award. Owned and shown by Caitlin Smith
of Lathbridge, Cherry is a 4 year old APHA Tobiano mare bred by
3D Paints and Quarter Horsees (Cathy and Jake Daniels) and is
a half sister to past Super Horse winners including Kesta's Fast
Cash (2010), Blue Eyed Storm (2008 and 2009) and Top Arrow (2007).
2011 Super Horse
Spunk,
detrmination and a lot of heart was part of the mix as this tiny
team of horse and rider worked through their various paces in
Hunter Under Saddle, Poles, Barrels, Reining, Western Pleasure
and Halter on their way to winning the Hi Point Junior Horse award
as well.
Cherry
and Caitlin wish to thank the Zone 10 show sponsors and the show
committee for their hard work in putting this show together. I
was a lot of fun!
The paint industry in Western Canada
has had a great year all shows having been bigger than in previous
years. We hope this trend continues for 2012.
