Futurity Rules

MANDATORY if entering futurity you must enter in corresponding
APHA class. This will be checked before futurity payouts will be made. Anyone
not entering corresponding APHA class will be disqualified from the futurity.
SCORING RULES
There will be two goes for performance
under 3 different judges each go.
There will be one go for halter under 6 judges.
Points will be awarded as shown below:
No ties will be allowed on the judges card.
Total points will determine placements: 1st-66 points, 2nd- 65 points, 3rd-
45 points, 4th- 36 points, 5th- 28 points, 6th- 21 points, 7th- 15 points,
8th- 10 points,
A tie-breaker judge will be drawn for each class. The tie-breaker judge
will be used for awards only, monies will be split equally.
NOTHERN CLASSIC PERFORMANCE
RULES
Horses may have
been shown before.
2 year olds to be shown in a snaffle bit or hackamore: must use two (2)
hands on the reins. APHA rule book 2002 #SC0245.b.3.ab, and 4, SC-240, and
SC-235 will apply. Snaffle bit is defined as: a smooth or single twisted
bit with a broken mouth piece, minimum 5/16 inch diameter. The snaffle bit
must be such that when the reins are pulled, there is no leverage applied.
If a curb strap is used, it must be below the reins, and it must be leather,
breaded nylon, or chain, all to be no less than ½ inch and to lie
flat against the jaw. No martingales, nosebands or other training devices
to be used.
Hackamore is to be rawhide or leather braided or rope bosal. No iron will
be permitted under the jaw regardless of how padded or taped.
2 year old Classic Classes are Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle.
Horses will be exhibited at the walk, jog lope, back, or walk, trot, canter,
back only. All transitions will be from and to the walk. 2year olds can
not cross over into another class except in different age divisions.
Non-Pro Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle classes are open to APHA
card carrying Youth or Amateurs, original or photocopy of APHA Youth or
Amateur card must be presented prior to issuing exhibitor number.
Western Pleasure Maturity and Hunter Under Saddle Maturity horses to be
5 years and older.
All performance classes, a five minute warm-up will be allowed for each
class. Tack will be checked prior to entering the arena, any horse with
illegal tack will be excused. After horses entered the arena no physical
contact with persons outside the arena will be allowed.
Western Pleasure Maturity & Hunter Under Saddle Maturity horses are
to be 5 years or older.
YEARLING LONGLINE
Open to all horses
registered with APHA (solid paint bred included)
Horses will be judged on way of going and halter
To be judged under APHA
rules SC-191
Yearling Triathalon
Must show in Halter, Trail in Hand & Yearling Longeline. Must show to
all 6 judges in two classes. The Halter division will be judged while in
Longeline line up. Trail & Longeline will be held within respective
APHA class. $20.00 registration fee. Points: eg. 1st - 6 entries, 1st -
2 entries - 2 points maximum 6 points, No extra points for Grand or Reserve.
Halter Classic
Yearling classes are open to all horses registered with APHA (solid paint bred
included)
Reining Classic
Open to registered APHA Junior Horses
Class to be judged in accordance with APHA official rules governing Reining
Patterns: APHA Reining patterns will be used. The pattern will be determined
by the judges.
The Northern Classic is to be judged in 2 go rounds under 3 judges each (6 total scores). The winner will be determined by the total score of the 6 judges. See above scoring for the tie-breaking information. No restrictions on amount of horses any exhibitor may show in individual work classes.

CLASSIC, OWNERS ACKNOWLEDGE THE RIGHT AND GIVE PERMISSION TO THE MANAGERS
OF THE CLASSIC TO DO DRUG TESTING ON ANY OR ALL ENTRIES, RANDOMLY OR IN
ANY MANOR DECIDED UPON BY MANAGEMNT. APHA RULEBOOK GUIDELINES WILL BE USED.
ZONE 10 ZONE O RAMA, APHA, AND NORTHERN CLASSIC WILL BE IN NO CASE RESPONSIBLE
FOR ANY LOSS DAMAGE, OR INJURY TO HORSES EXHIBITED. ANY ARTICLE OF ANY KIND
OR NATURE THAT MAY BE LOSS, STOLEN, DESTROYED, OR IN ANY WAY INJURED EACH
EXHIBITOR WILL BE SOLEY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR OTHER LOSS,
INJURY, OR DAMAGE DONE TO OR OCCASIONED BY, OR ARISING FROM ANY
HORSES OR ARTICLE OWNED OR EXHIBITED BY HIM AND SHALL INDEMNIFY THE APHA,
ZONE 10 ZONE O RAMA, ZONE 10 COMMITTEE, NORTHERN CLASSIC, NORTHERN CLASSIC
COMMITTEE, SPONSORS, AND THEIR ASSOCIATES.
